The car at the crossroads
We never buy car insurance on these trips. On the first night in England a car struck ours and drove away, and the cover we had not meant to buy was waiting.

We never buy car insurance on these trips, because of the mounting additional cost. Every journey is paid for from our own wages, and we have always simply prayed and committed ourselves into God's hands. At the hire desk in Edinburgh, Ekaba had walked a little way off and sat down while Chidera completed the paperwork.
When the agent handed Chidera the waiver to sign, something in him said, Just do it. He did not understand why. He asked for the most basic cover and signed. Neither of us thought of it again.
We would never have known that we were paying a premium if this had not happened. But Christ went ahead of us.
About five minutes from our hotel, as we came slowly through an intersection, a car crossing at speed did not see us. It struck the front of our car, tore away the grille and damaged the bumper, spun round, and drove off. No one was hurt. Ekaba woke Chidera: “We have had an accident.” His first question was, “Did we get insurance for this car?” “Yes.”
That night we found that the agent had not given us the basic cover Chidera asked for. She had signed us up for a fuller package. The whole of the damage was covered, and the most we would pay was about £590. We received it as the intervention of God, who had gone ahead of us and heard the prayers of those who pray for us.
“The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:8
